We are currently including ABS discs in our wheel modules and some of our preset bearings (F400007, F400008, F400009, F400010, F400011, F400018 and F400019). By including this component, the sensor in the vehicle detects when there is little or no movement in the bearing and triggers the vehicle's ABS system. This development is part of a line of work of the Fersa team focused on component integration to ensure maximum efficiency for the mechanic and maximum safety for the end user, the truck driver.

Our investigation team is also looking to add other electronic components in order to help us detect a premature failure in bearing operation and to prevent major failure in the vehicle. Fersa is also working on sensors integrated into the bearings that will allow them to measure variables such as temperature, vibration, humidity, loads and speed, among others. In the future, all of this will allow for data on bearing performance to be stored predicting failures and making operational improvements.

The automotive market demands increasingly integrated solutions that do not require maintenance, facilitate assembly and ensure sealing and precision. At Fersa we are convinced that the bearing evolution must go hand-in-hand with the design of increasingly complete products that allow quick and safe replacement. Our integration strategy is summed up in simplifying our products' design by unifying all the components. This integration brings significant benefits when it comes to installing our solutions in the final application:

  • We reduce the need for maintenance: the components are lubricated for life. In addition, the seals and other sealing elements are included and assembled, ensuring minimum entry of contaminants and preventing the assembly from losing lubrication.
  • We guarantee pre-defined axial clearance: all components have passed the same strict safety and quality controls. That is how full component compatibility and design suitability is achieved.
  • We create a compact unit: we simplify the part in order to facilitate its handling and installation, preventing failures during assembly, contamination by external agents, blows that compromise sealing.
  • We reduce the number of tools required for assembly.

We have already implemented integration systems on wheel end and differential industrial vehicle applications through our range of integrated components such as the pinion module, integral bearings, compact bushings, kits and wheel hubs.
