Lubrication

Lubrication of the bearings is vital in order to:

• Avoid metal contact between the raceways thereby reducing friction

• Protect them from corrosion and wear

• Protect them from foreign objects and dirt.

As time goes by, these lubricants deteriorate, age, are contaminated, etc. and, in short, lose the properties they were chosen for, and must therefore be replaced.

The lubricants most frequently used with bearings are oils and greases, and their selection depends on the working speed and temperature of the bearings.

• Grease lubricants: They are used under conditions of normal or low speeds and temperatures.

• Oil lubricants: They are used under conditions of high speeds and temperatures, as the circulation of the oil allows for the heat generated during operation to be dissipated. At times, they are also used when the rest of the machine is already equipped with an oil lubrication system, although the rotation speed is low.

For any queries regarding the rotation speeds of our bearings, both lubricated with oil and grease, please contact our technical department.
