U-type tapered roller bearings are an exception among conventional tapered roller bearings as this kind of bearing is a pre-set compact unit designed to withstand high radial loads and axial stresses in both senses (predominantly in one of them) without needing to install another opposing bearing.
Furthermore, they are fitted with a tab on the outer raceway that has to be fixed axially in the application, once the bearing is assembled. They are also greased for operation.
Originally designed for use in semi-floating shafts for vehicles, they can also be used in a large variety of transmissions and general industrial applications.
